Research in Toronto showed that the average length of labour for non-hypnotised women having their first baby was 12 hours. For women who received hypnotherapy for their first baby, the average was just 5.5 hours.

If a fear is uncontrollable or irrational, it can be described as a phobia. The phobic normally knows it’s harmless and understands their behaviour is irrational, but they can’t seem to stop it. Since a phobia is a programmed response in the mind, it can be effectively treated with hypnotherapy to overcome the irrational fear and make any rational fear appropriate to the situation.
